Arizona Trip Summary

Image
Nice late-Fall trip to Eastern Arizona's White Mountains, plus the Apache and Pinal Mtns. en route. 579 miles driven and 56 miles hiked over 7 days. Weather was sunny and cool, mostly in the 50s and 60s. I spent the night in Globe, Springerville, Show Low and Globe again. One of the highlights were the expansive views from Carol Spring Mtn.  This view is toward the Salt River Canyon and the White Mountains beyond.

Eastern Sierra Nevada Exploration

Image
Fabulous late summer trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California! 1540 miles driven and 124 miles of hiking over 16 days! Lone Pine, Walker, Bridgeport, Lee Vining, Bishop and Lone Pine again were the towns where we rested and dined. Slight delay getting home due to Hurricane Helene gave us an extra day in the 70 degree sunshine of El Segundo on the Pacific! We had an extended stay in Bishop so we could explore Highway 168 west of town.  Some of the most beautiful Sierra lakes were relatively easy day hikes from there.  Long Lake in the John Muir Wilderness was one of my favorites.  Inyo NF.
