Beautiful Day Hike

I had a great trip to the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains!  1240 miles of driving, 65 miles of hiking, much of it in snowshoes, plus great weather made for an enjoyable trip.  This a remote area, mostly south of Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks, in the Sequoia National Forest.  Most of the time was spent on the western slope.

Beautiful southern Sierra vistas, snow and giant Sequoias!  Sequoia National Forest, near Camp Nelson.  The Stagg Tree is supposedly the 5th or 6th largest tree in the world!  Plus 2 sentinels overlooking the Alder Creek drainage.

We had a wonderful trip to Washington state this November.  From the ocean, to the Cascades, to the moon-like landscape of Eastern Washington, we thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and the time with family and friends.  960 miles of driving and 48 miles of hiking and we only scratched the surface.  We will definitely return! Beautiful view of Riffe Lake near Morton, WA.  Riffe Lake is a man-made reservoir of the Cowlitz River, on the southern flank of Mt. Rainier.
