Saranac Lake Region

Today I enjoyed a 22-mile tandem bike ride with my wife Courtney. It was called the Fish Hatchery Loop and brought us to the landlocked Atlantic Salmon hatchery, Lake Clear, Lake Colby and back to Saranac Lake. The tandem bike was an awesome $4000 machine we rented for the day!

    $4000 tandem? Huh? Did it have an motor??

 Fabulous late summer trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California! 1540 miles driven and 124 miles of hiking over 16 days! Lone Pine, Walker, Bridgeport, Lee Vining, Bishop and Lone Pine again were the towns where we rested and dined. Slight delay getting home due to Hurricane Helene gave us an extra day in the 70 degree sunshine of El Segundo on the Pacific! We had an extended stay in Bishop so we could explore Highway 168 west of town.  Some of the most beautiful Sierra lakes were relatively easy day hikes from there.  Long Lake in the John Muir Wilderness was one of my favorites.  Inyo NF.
