Utah Trip Summary - Uinta Mountains

Great trip to the Uintas in late Spring.  Still a lot of snow in the mountains!  The roads that penetrate deep or cross the high country were closed, so it was a challenge to get to the places I had hoped.  Nonetheless, the intermediate level Uintas are beautiful with distant views of the high country.  1057 miles driven over 8 days.  55 miles of hiking over 7.  A little bit of time spent in CO and WY as well, as I circumnavigated the Uintas.

 Fabulous late summer trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California! 1540 miles driven and 124 miles of hiking over 16 days! Lone Pine, Walker, Bridgeport, Lee Vining, Bishop and Lone Pine again were the towns where we rested and dined. Slight delay getting home due to Hurricane Helene gave us an extra day in the 70 degree sunshine of El Segundo on the Pacific! We had an extended stay in Bishop so we could explore Highway 168 west of town.  Some of the most beautiful Sierra lakes were relatively easy day hikes from there.  Long Lake in the John Muir Wilderness was one of my favorites.  Inyo NF.
