North Carolina Winter Trip Summary

 Nice trip to North Carolina for some winter snow activities.  19 miles of hiking/snowshoeing and 825 miles driving over three days.  Recent storm had dumped a lot of snow, so we wanted to see how feasible it is to go enjoy!  There's a nice little ski hill in Blowing Rock (Appalachian Ski Mountain) plus the Cone Estate on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers miles of snowshoeing/skiing/hiking options!

 Fabulous late summer trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California! 1540 miles driven and 124 miles of hiking over 16 days! Lone Pine, Walker, Bridgeport, Lee Vining, Bishop and Lone Pine again were the towns where we rested and dined. Slight delay getting home due to Hurricane Helene gave us an extra day in the 70 degree sunshine of El Segundo on the Pacific! We had an extended stay in Bishop so we could explore Highway 168 west of town.  Some of the most beautiful Sierra lakes were relatively easy day hikes from there.  Long Lake in the John Muir Wilderness was one of my favorites.  Inyo NF.
